Rare Vintage 'Chilliwack' Canvas Messenger Bag
This rare and beautiful piece of canvas dates to pre WW2 and is adorned with the most wonderful, delicate hand painted illustrations and lettering. It is truly one of a kind. On the exterior of the bag we have kept the ID ‘S.L.5002’ but the real treasure is hidden inside for protection… A beautiful pin up style girl is painted sitting crosslegged and holding a tray, with a ribbon in her hair.
This tan vintage canvas bag is fully lined with a sturdy brass zip chain to secure the contents of the bag and an additional internal zipped pocket for valuables. The leather flap is taken from a fantastically well worn vintage Saddle panel - the tear is original, as is the repair work although we have reinforced the stitching for longevity. The shoulder strap is navy worsted wool webbing and fully adjustable using a cast brass slider.
